[HEALTH NEWSFLASH!] A new report from the Food and Agricultural Organisation

I wanted to share with you a new report from the Food and Agricultural Organisation that highlights the importance of animal foods in providing essential nutrients in our diets.

This report underscores the importance of these foods in addressing malnutrition and addressing the health of vulnerable populations, particularly in low and middle income countries.

The constant message advocating for a plant-based diet as a replacement for nutrient-dense animal foods is not beneficial for the many low and middle income families in New Zealand who are already struggling with malnutrition.

Everyday, I look at the blood test results of people who are not getting enough nutrients in their diets. They’re low in magnesium, retinol, copper, B12, and often protein.
Animal foods are a major source of these nutrients, and including them in our diet is vital for maintaining optimal health. It’s encouraging to see the FAO come out an acknowledge this.
